Background Information:

Board Policy #5.201 – Separation Practices for Non-Tenured Teachers needs a slight amendment. TCA §49-5-409(a) was amended by the General Assembly to move the date of notice of nonrenewal of non-tenured teachers from May 15 to June 15. All teacher contracts now reflect this new date and all teachers have had notice of the change in date. However, the Board Policy failed to get amended. The only change necessary appears on page 2, line 31. The date needs to be changed from May 15 to June 15.

I recommend approval of this amendment to Board Policy #5.201 – Separation Practices for Non-Tenured Teachers on first and final reading.
